Barbie - Proof of Hollywood's Corruption
It's no longer a conspiracy, it's official. They are pushing a narrative on us and Hollywood is enabling it and promoting it using the power that they possess.
Although there were some poignant moments regarding men and women in the movie, the best way to surmise it is - The negative polarity of the Feminism movement, throwing up onto a $100 million dollar canvas propped up by lies and false narratives.
The representation of men was awful, their characters consisted of the greedy capitalist, the bumbling moron and the sexual predator. There was a minor redemption arc approaching the end but by then the damage had been done. It was not outwardly anti men, however there were continuous subtle innuendos and mentions of the patriarchy and how women have been oppressed.
It was a real shame to see no recognition of men's mental health or the work that men have put into building this incredible society that we have nowadays. It's not perfect, and there's a lot to be done. But our Western society isn't the norm for mankind, it hasn't been the norm throughout history and it isn't even the norm from a global perspective in 2023. The subversive development of Ken is too complicated to articulate in words, plus I need to think about it more.
I'm almost done fighting this battle, repeating the same things about how there is some truth to the 'oppressive patriarchy' but how it isn't the full story, and the unfortunate predicament of sexual selection. But the truth is that women uphold the patriarchy just as much as men. Women are drawn towards high status and resource rich men, in fact the correlation between status and sexual opportunity for a heterosexual man is 0.7. That is higher than the correlation between intelligence and getting good grades in school. Think about what that means. Whereas there is actually a negative correlation between a woman's status and her sexual opportunity. And anyone who disagrees with this should look at Instagram and dating apps and how a minority of men receive all the DM's and attention from women and the majority receive pretty much none. Whilst pretty much every single woman is flooded with attention on a daily basis. This is an example of Female Privilege that nobody is talking about.
There is so much wrong with this film that I can't fit it all into one blog. It is harmful in so many ways and due to its astronomical success it will be harmful to so many people as well. Meanwhile it's all hidden under the guise of a feel good subversive family movie.
The only saving grace was right at the end of the film, when Barbie had effectively achieved 'Self Actualisation' and her creator said something akin to "When people are uncomfortable they make up things, like the patriarchy and Barbie, to make themselves feel better". I thought that was very powerful and quite surprising, it implies that these constructs we create act as edifices to buttress ourselves against the nature of reality. Which in some ways redeems the movie from a macro perspective, but not from a micro perspective. Or maybe I am interpreting the scene incorrectly, could be.
Hollywood clearly wants us to believe something, I am not sure why, or who is imploring them to propogate these ideas. And the narrative that they're promoting deliberately omits a plethora of conclusive data that acts against how they want us to perceive the world. It's cherry picking at its finest.
On top of this there is the fact that the whole institution has ignored the incredibly pertinent and remarkable film 'Sound of Freedom', nobody from Hollywood has given the film any recognition and yet apparently they really care about people who are suffering, disenfranchised and oppressed. It's all such BS.
Even my mum was shocked by the messages that the film promoted, and she is a very career driven and industrious woman who has good reason to feel aggrievd by men as a collective.
We shall see how this all plays out, maybe we'll create a socialist utopia, however the evidence is pretty much disproving that idea.
Until next time,

P.S. Go watch Oppenheimer instead.
