A.I. Will Change EVERYTHING
It has begun. The AI revolution is just beginning to pick up momentum and seep more and more into modern culture. The implications of this are mostly unknown. The law of unintended consequences has taught us that every change we make, no matter how big or small, produces peripheral and usually unintended consequences as a result. The specific goal may be clear and well thought out, but there will still be an array of unforeseen consequences that ensue.
AI will obviously lubricate the online and digital world to a great degree. Advertising will become more specialised, social media and legacy media will have to adapt, and most likely will, increasing their chance of survival and as well as their control over us unfortunately. The AI assistants, such as ChatGPT and Bard, will allow us to consume content and data more efficiently, and will inevitably give birth to a new generation of millionaires and eventually billionaires. The sex industry will be impacted astronomically, but I'll save that for another blog. Overall life could continue to change in the exponential pattern that we have seen over the last 30 years or so.
To be completely honest my knowledge of the substructure of AI is very minimal. I was very captivated by the film 'I, Robot' growing up. Ironically, that does make sense to me now, given the narrative of the film and the content I've been uploading recently. However I hope that the story laid out in the film will not become a reality in the not so distant future. AI may have the potential to create a world far beyond our projections or fantasies of the future. A world where all problems can be fixed through the concerted effort of AI and humans. But who knows?
One thing is for certain, and has been well documented by specialists on the matter. AI is similar to a child, it is learning and imitating our engagement with it, and each other on the internet all the time. There really is great responsibility in possessing such a power. We must be vigilant and attentive to how we engage with AI, and each other, over the next few years. The future of society may depend on it. DUN DUN DUUNNNNN.
Lol
Until next time,
