Turning the esoteric into the exoteric
The purpose of this blog is to move niche concepts and structures of being into more mainstream, widely accepted views. I'll be honest, that may be hard. We all know that the mental health climate continues to decline in the modern day. This is something that anyone with any care for human beings wishes could slow down and ideally reverse in course.
However, in our Western world, there are a plethora of expedient escapes that lay at our fingertips. Whether or not those things are good or bad is a different matter. But they are a factor. Unfortunately in my experience the imminent arrival of our latest amazon delivery or the takeaway we're having tonight can be so pleasurable, in a dopaminergic sense, that it can keep our troubles at bay temporarily. Which is understandable, why would you want to look at that which scares you. This is not my argument, my argument is that these 'distractions' allow people to keep their problems and possible troubling past, fuzzy in their heads. And therefore unable to address something that could be affecting them daily.
The primary Buddhist doctrine is that 'Life is suffering' there is a lot of evidence to prove this to be true. Nevertheless life shouldn't have to be any more difficult than it has to be. This is where what I mentioned earlier in terms of expedient pleasure possibly being damaging in the long run is relevant.
If we can help educate people in new ways of thinking and understanding themselves, we can improve their arsenal to help them through life and in times of need.
I had a plan for this blog, I started and finished it correctly but the middle is a bit of a mess. My main point is that some of our problems emerge through us not being aware of a problem we have and allowing it to grow in size over time. If we can bring more awareness of ourselves and others into our life we can take steps out into the unknown and towards the light.
Thank you if you made it this far, let me know what you think in the comments.
Until next time. Ox
