Is Inequality Inevitable?
Lately I’ve been thinking about how achievable it would be to create a world that is as equal and just as possible. Can it actually be done?
It has certainly been attempted in the past, although that always ended up worse than the previous regime. ‘Equality’ is such a buzz word nowadays, everyone is obsessed with equality, and yet, the meaning of the term in itself, is somewhat dubious.
As much as my outward beliefs and ideas may not imply it, I am genuinely interested in creating a more just and equitable society. I am deeply concerned with inequality when I see it; granted, my opinions may not match the opinions of the mainstream with regards to inequality, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong.
So the ultimate question is, ‘What Would A Society That Is As Fair As Possible Look Like?’.
F*ck knows, is my first response to that question. It's a really complicated question and dilemma.
I believe that a lot of the impasses that philosophical and ontological ideas /discussions reach nowadays, make sense once you learn of the famous assertion made by the philosopher Thomas Hobbes.
Fundamentally he believed that man was ultimately selfish and brutal.
Maybe that is the primary reason we struggle with global equality?
Until next time,
