Young Men are Expendable, Young Women are Invaluable

Unfortunately, this is a sad and hidden reality of the human species. It is also the cause of so many societal and individual issues. Despite being a predominantly unknown phenomenen, there are an array of data on the concept. Inevitably, it has been refuted by certain media outlets and political ideologies, granted, some of which hold some validity.

Why are men expendable and women invaluable? In short it is due to their differences in reproductive capabilities. There has been much contention over sex and gender in recent years, understandably, given how complicated these two terms are. However, one thing is for certain, anyone who grows and carries a baby inside of them for roughly 9 months has a significantly harder role than the other person involved in conception. Regardless of identity etc, this is clearly true.

This next part of the argument often proves a semantic roadblock for many people. Despite men being able to theoretically father CONSIDERABLY more children in the space of a year then women can, this does not mean that it is a reality. A women can mother one child every 9 months. On the other hand, a man could theoretically father near 1000 children in that same period of time. However the percentage of men who have that much sexual opportunity is beyond minimal, but nevertheless still logistically possible. Based on these metrics, it gives the illusion that men hold significantly more power than women reproductively, but in reality this is not the case.

Throughout history there has always been a small percentage of men who achieved or possessed astronomical amounts of wealth, power and fame. This prestige is sometimes justified, and sometimes resoundingly not. But these men that sit at the top of the male hierarchy, the Leonardo DiCaprio's and Elvis's of the world, could have feasibly fathered 1000 children every year. The average Joe on the other hand, is fortunate to attract and retain one woman into his life.

Conversely, women are far more reproductively valuable due to the finitude of the number of eggs they have. It is estimated that women possess 300,000 eggs at birth, whereas men can produce up to 600 billion sperm in their lifetime.

In short, Eggs are expensive, Sperm is cheap.

If you wanted to repopulate the species, in theory you would only need roughly 200 men and 200,000 women. Realistically this is an extremely fallible idea, but it would provide enough genetic variation, and does stand up to scrutiny in many ways.

What does this mean for society? It means that evolution is biased against most men, they are genuinely less valuable than women from a superficially reproductive perspective. This is a possible reason behind the societal lack of interest in mens issues.

So what's the solution? Put simply, accept it and try to be the best person you can be. Endeavour to maximise your attributes and cultivate your weaknesses. Understand that women are designed to judge you more harshly than you judge them, but be a good man who cares for the people in his community and takes care of himself and his future.

The great thing about being a man is that your value is determined by you and what you make of yourself. This is why so many young men love video games, it mimics this process of constant elevation. The journey may be long and hard, but it is more than worth it in the end.
