To tell the truth is to act with love

We always have a choice in life, even when our options are compromised beyond belief, we always have a choice. In having this mentality we give ourselves more control over our lives and the lives of those around us. It is a difficult thing to comprehend, given how dire and conflicted peoples lives can be. However I believe it to be a helpful and necessary mentality to adopt, one that is conducive to our conscience and spirit.

A seemingly harmless 'white lie' is a common feature in our everyday life, everyone has heard of the universal example "Honey, do I look fat in this dress?", "Of course not, darling". Why would anyone argue against this being an acceptable interaction? Personally, I would attempt to tell the truth in the least upsetting way possible in this situation. Probably to the detriment of my current and future relationships... Nevertheless that is a personal choice and one that I am not going to enforce upon you.

One of the things I have found in terms of telling the truth is that you feel 'lighter' after doing it, physically, mentally and spiritually lighter. Almost as if lies and deception weigh us down and stunt us from growing. Like a tree that has been deprived of sunlight, enough lies can leave someone withering away, lost in life and lost in themselves.

My experience is that all lies come back to haunt us at some point in the future, in alignment with the severity of the lie and how much instability it caused. I use the word instability because it feels appropriate to the way I conceptualise the impact of lieing. In the past, when I have lied I can feel my psyche/spirit destabilise and become metaphorically ambiguous. It is a feeling I believe we are all aware of yet seldom listen to. Understandably so, we have no concrete proof or training as such about what I am discussing. We also all live in a world where lies and omissions of truth take place everyday.

When we tell the truth we take the emphasis away from ourselves and place it back onto a higher power, (the Universe, God etc) and we are accepting that we cannot bend or manipulate reality in anyway we chose to; nor can we ignore what is calling out to us, demanding that we say or do what needs to be said or done.

The truth will set you free. The truth can also cause immense pain and suffering, posing the question is it truly worth it? The blog I have written is in favour of it, clearly. Granted there is a whole blog that can be written about the upset that the truth can cause. Ultimately it is for each individual to decide, like all things the truth can be a blessing or a curse. I believe that it is curative and that in telling the truth we align ourselves with a higher love and we acknowledge the involvement of external forces in our lives.

I hope you have enjoyed this blog and understand that I have mostly given one side of the argument, the side that I feel is most important. We all have a choice in life, this is the one that I have made and try to live up to as best I can.

Thank you for reading,
